2016CCWCRace1

On April 1-3, 2016, the BAD Master Blasters (Senior B crew) competed at the 10th IDBF (International Dragon Boat Federation) | 2016 Club Crew World Championships in Adelaide, Australia. Racing among the world’s best Senior B dragon boat crews, BAD Master Blasters competed in the 2000m, 500m and 200m mixed & gender races, finishing among the pack in the Standard Boat (Mixed 20) and Small Boat (Women 10) races. The highlight focused on the Small Boat 500m Open (Men) crew: in the qualifying heat, BAD Master Blasters captured a bye, which propelled them directly into the finals. In the Grand Final, the Open crew paddled hard and captured 3rd place and the bronze medal in the Small Boat, Senior B Open 500m Division…the first world championship medal for the Bay Area Dragons!

cropped-2014_BAD_TI_Race.jpgFounded in 1996, the Bay Area Dragon Boat Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and our primary focus is dragon boat racing. Our racing team is known as the Bay Area Dragons (a.k.a. BAD). We have some of the most experienced dragon boat paddlers in Northern California. Bay Area Dragons provides coaching, steering, and general support for our members and local teams.

We offer FREE dragon boat lessons every Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Foster City. We provide the life jackets, paddles, boats, and expert coaching. A dragon boat is a 44 foot canoe that seats 20 paddlers.

We also do team building events.  Contact us for details.
